BURNSIDE - A 48-year-old York man was flown by Medivac helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Saturday night after crashing his ATV along Shovel Road, approximately 1.5 miles east of Route 125 in a wooded mine reclamation area near the top of the Burnside Mountain.

Richard Anderson suffered non-life threatening injuries in the 9:15 p.m. crash, according to Coal Township Police Patrolman Jason Adams.

Adams said Anderson was found semi-conscious but did not appear to have any open wounds and was not bleeding. Emergency personnel stabilized him before transporting him to AREA Services Ambulance, which in turn transported him to the helicopter, which landed in a field about one-quarter mile off Route 125.

Anderson hit a gully and was ejected from the Yamaha Grizzly ATV.

Assisting were Deputy Chief Chris Williams and Patrolman Matthew Hashuga, township fire personnel, fire police, Coal Township Rescue Squad and Coal Township Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Malukas.
