Man, 23, dead in motorcycle crash
BLYTHE TOWNSHIP - A 23-year-old Shenandoah motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon when the front of his cycle struck a metal gate and utility pole along a dirt road, approximately a quarter mile east of Burma Road in this Schuylkill County township.
State police at Frackville reported Travis McGee was pronounced dead at Schuylkill Medical Center South in Pottsville by hospital coroner Gail Newton. McGee was transported by ambulance to the hospital following the 12:30 p.m. crash.
Police said McGee was driving a Kawasaki KX 250 motorcycle east when it struck a metal gate that had a section of the dirt road closed and then hit a utility pole.
Police said McGee was wearing a helmet, gloves and goggles. His motorcycle sustained moderate damage.
Friends riding in front of McGee called 911 to report the accident.
Emergency and fire personnel from Pottsville, Schuylkill Haven and St. Clair assisted at the scene.
