LEWISBURG - Lightwire Theater will present a free family friendly matinee at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts at Bucknell University. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.

Lightwire Theater was recently a semi-finalist on "America's Got Talent!," which aired in the fall on NBC. The group brings the stories of "The Ugly Duckling" and the "Tortoise and the Hare" to life.

The show combines age-old children's stories with cutting-edge technology, moving sculpture and dance. The show uses electroluminescent puppetry on a darkened stage to capture the audience's attention and bring children's tales to life.

Hans Christian Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling" has helped generations of children understand one of humanity's universal struggles, while Aesop's fable "The Tortoise and the Hare," now more than 2,500 years old, continues to drive home the time-tested adage, "Slow and steady wins the race."

"The Weis Center is thrilled to bring this magical performance to our region," said Kathryn Maguet, executive director of the Weis Center.

The event is sponsored in part by the Susquehanna Valley Mall.
