DANVILLE - Dr. Benjamin Hale has joined Geisinger Health System as an ophthalmologist. He will practice at Geisinger Medical Center and provide outreach services at the new Geisinger Ophthalmology-Shamokin clinic, located on the Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital campus in Coal Township.

Hale earned his medical degree in 2007 from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. He completed an ophthalmology residency in 2011 at Geisinger Medical Center. He then pursued a two-year vitreoretinal fellowship with Albany Medical Center, Retina Consultants PLLC, in Slingerlands, N.Y., which he completed in June.

During his fellowship, Hale served as an assistant professor of ophthalmology at Albany Medical Center. He has authored various publications and given numerous presentations. Hale is currently a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists.
