PAXINOS - The 11th Annual Nicholas Girolami Memorial Golf Benefit was held July 12, 2009, at Indian Hills Golf and Tennis Club. This year's tournament raised $9,718.
The tournament is held in memory of the late Nicholas Girolami, who died in a car accident Aug. 26, 1998.
This year's tournament was dedicated to the late Mark A. Buscavage, who lost his battle with colon cancer March 25. A check for $3,500 was presented to the American Cancer Society for colon cancer research in Buscavage's memory; $2,500 was presented to the Shamokin Area Community Hospital. The remaining $3,718 will support the Nicholas Girolami Memorial Scholarship, which is presented each year to a graduating senior at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, where Nick was a student.
The Girolami family expressed sincere gratitude for the support they have received for the golf benefit, and thanked the 63 golfers who competed this year.
First flight winners were Greg Klebon, Brad Klebon, Vince Klebon and Mike Paulson. Second flight winners were Elmer Golla, Donovan Hickman, Tim Faust and Warren Faust.
