'God's Chuckwagon' receives donation from MC Rotary
MOUNT CARMEL - At the weekly meeting of the Mount Carmel Rotary Club on March 19, the Rev. Jim Bowers and his wife, Janet, founders of "God's Chuckwagon," received a donation from the Rotary Club to help sponsor their mobile soup kitchen ministry that provides meals to the hungry in the Shamokin and Mount Carmel areas.
Bowers and his wife volunteer their own time, along with others, to help serve approximately 200 people each week. Currently, the ministry is working on converting a school bus to a fully operational mobile soup kitchen, which will also include a bathroom, and on occasion, a volunteer medical personnel will accompany them to provide treatment in case of an emergency.
For more information, Bowers can be reached at 205-6129, or on Facebook at "God's Chuckwagon."
The Mount Carmel Rotary meets each week at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Pine Burr Inn, Atlas. If anyone is interested in becoming a Rotary member, contact vice president Mike Smith at 317-1745.
