SHAMOKIN - God's Chuck Wagon is undergoing repairs.

The bus that takes hot meals to people in Shamokin, Mount Carmel, Kulpmont, Ashland and Trevorton broke down earlier this week and will be in a local garage until at least Tuesday while it awaits a new alternator.

Pastor James Bowers, director of God's Chuck Wagon, said the charity is working to come up with a temporary solution to feed the approximately 1,200 people it serves each month.

"We're thinking about serving sandwiches right from our van on Monday and Tuesday, but we won't be able to do the full meals," said Bowers.

A local group of children will be running a lemonade stand in front of Rite Aid, 26 W. Independence St., today to raise money for the charity. The fundraiser will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m.
