Expansion under way at Christian and Missionary Alliance
SHAMOKIN - The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Second and Arch streets, is undergoing major renovations to add on a large multi-purpose room, a new kitchen facility, additional classrooms and an enlarged lobby.
Over the years, the church has continued to be a place of worship and center of ministry, where people can find refuge, support and love. Regardless of race, gender, or socio-economic status, the church's purpose is to bring people to a meaningful relationship with Jesus.
The denomination's focus is on missions, stressing the whole Gospel for the whole world, and the teaching and preaching of the entire gospel, recognizing God's Word as authoritative, inerrant and unfailing. The vision for expansion is to reach the community for Christ by providing opportunities for worship, ministry and fellowship. The church is also committed to offering a safe place for children to hear the Gospel. At present, space has been limited for children and youth ministries.
The project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2010.
Worship services are held at 8:30 and 10:50 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday. Sunday School is held at 9:45 a.m. Home Bible studies and cottage prayer meetings are offered throughout the week, and children and youth ministries also occur at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.
