ELYSBURG - Two Sunbury residents remained in prison Saturday after allegedly selling drugs to a confidential informant Monday night.

Ralpho Township Police Patrolman Christopher Grow charged Kimberly A. Giampapa, 23, of 736 S. Front St., Apt. 1, and Gordon Byers, 38, of 210 Speece St., after the incident in the parking lot of the Sheetz convenience store at approximately 8 p.m.

According to Grow, he and members of the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force worked with a confidential informant to conduct a buy for 50 tablets of suboxone, which is used to treat narcotic addiction.

Under surveillance, police said they observed the informant and an undercover employee of the task force make the transaction for two cellophane bags containing the pills for $150. After the buy, the informant met with police, turning over 53 suboxone tablets. The extra pills were identified as suboxone and flexeril, a muscle relaxer.

Giampapa and Byers were charged with four counts each of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, two counts each of possession of a controlled substance and delivery of a controlled substance, and single counts of criminal use of a communication facility and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance.

They were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday before Jones.
