BOSTON - Dr. Julie M. Snyder Christiana has accepted a staff psychologist position within the Department of Gastroenterology at Children's Hospital Boston. She has been appointed both to the medical staff as an assistant in psychology at Children's Hospital Boston and as an instructor in psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. In her role as a pediatric psychologist, Snyder Christiana will provide psychological/consultative services to pediatric patients diagnosed with gastrointestinal conditions. She will also provide supervision to psychology trainees and will participate in the training and education of gastroenterology medical residents and fellows.

A 2000 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School and a 2004 graduate of Muhlenberg College, Snyder Christiana obtained her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern (NSU) in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She graduated in August 2009 with a 4.0 grade point average. During her graduate school years, Snyder Christiana focused her clinical work on children diagnosed with behavioral disorders and chronic medical conditions. She completed practical experiences in the ADHD Assessment, Consultation and Treatment Clinic at NSU and the pediatric inpatient psychiatry unit at Miami Children's Hospital. Snyder Christiana was also actively involved in research at the University of Miami/Millar School of Medicine, which focused on the neurocognitive late effects of childhood cancer.

She completed her clinical internship at the Mailman Center for Child Development in Miami, Fla., in 2008 and 2009, serving as the primary psychology intern on the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Service at Holtz Children's Hospital. Synder Christiana relocated to Boston in August 2009 to complete her doctoral fellowship within the Department of Psychiatry's Pediatric Psychiatry Consultation Service and the Medical Coping Program at Children's Hospital Boston.

Snyder Christiana resides in West Roxbury, Mass., with her husband Jonathan, a 1999 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School. He is employed as a mental health clinician with South Bay Mental Health, of Brockton, Mass. Snyder Christiana is a daughter of Gary and Deborah Snyder, of Shamokin, and a granddaughter of Leon and Rosemarry Krushinski, of Shamokin, and the late George and Mary Snyder, of Trevorton.
