SHAMOKIN - The following hearings took place Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court April 28 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Jennings E. Brown, 42, of 129 N. Rock St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to providing police with false identification and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year.
Additional charges of making false reports to police, harassment and disorderly conduct were withdrawn.
Brown was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Edward Purcell with getting into a physical altercation with Eric D. Smith, 41, of 209 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, in the 1400 block of Pulaski Avenue on March 5 and providing police with a false name.
Smith was cited for harassment and disorderly conduct.
Also cited for disorderly conduct in connection with the same incident were Megan Katalinas, 29, of 209 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, and Charmaine Brown, 21, of 129 N. Rock St., Shamokin.
n Jacob Snyder, 22, of 1032 W. Spruce St., waived charges of improper delivery of a firearm and transferring a firearm to another person without a license relating to a Sept. 16 incident in the east end of the township.
Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan, who filed the charges, reported an unidentified victim accused Snyder of taking a Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum handgun from a residence.
Snyder allegedly told police he took the gun from the residence and traded it in Williamsport for 50 bags of heroin.
n A charge of criminal mischief filed by Shamokin Cpl. Darwin Tobias III against Scott A. Capps Jr., 32, of 908 E. Packer St., Shamokin, was withdrawn after the defendant paid restitution to the victim in the case.
Capps was charged with causing a large dent on the driver's side front door of a 2010 GMC sport utility vehicle owned by Marian Smith on Oct. 13 in the 200 block of West Spruce Street. Police said a damage estimate to repair the door was $1,583.46.
n Loriann M. Gula, 46, of 268 Colonial Ave., Natalie, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and stop sign violation involving a Nov. 23 two-vehicle accident at Liberty and Water streets.
The charges were filed by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle.
n David T. Miller III, 42, of 21 N. Anthracite St., Shamokin, waived to a court a charge of theft by deception.
He was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Terry Ketchem with failing to make any payments on a 46-inch Toshiba LCD television valued at $1,021.64 he leased from Lightning Rent To Own in the Anthra Plaza on June 24.
n Aaron McAfee, 33, of 67 Memorial Acres, Sunbury, waived to court a retail theft charge filed by Coal Township Patrolman Dave Sage.
Police reported McAfee tried to fool a Walmart employee with an outdated receipt while trying to steal more than $1,000 in merchandise Jan. 28.
