SHAMOKIN - The following hearings took place Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court April 21 in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n Collin Scicchitano, 18, of 1798 Clinton Ave., Coal Township, waived to court a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia filed by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan.

Police said Scicchitano was found in possession of a hypodermic needle with the intent to use it to inject heroin between Nov. 22 and Dec. 23 at a vacant home in the 800 block of West Walnut Street.

n Timothy S. Shirk, 48, of 24 E. Third St., Apt. 400, Mount Carmel, waived to court a felony of aggravated assault and misdemeanors of simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Shirk is charged by Coal Township Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with allegedly assaulting an emergency medical technician and threatening to kill the EMT and an emergency room nurse at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital on Feb. 8.

n Jeffrey S. Luta, 41, of 3413 State Route 61, Sunbury, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to drive in a single lane, a turn signal violation, careless driving and a seat belt violation involving a Nov. 11 traffic stop along Route 61 in the Stonington area.

The charges were filed by Trooper James Yankovich of state police at Stonington.

n Michael Marciniak, 21, of 100 E. Market St., Trevorton, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol filed by Coal Township Patrolman Chad Yoder in connection with a Dec. 18 incident off Route 225 (Trevorton Road).

n David L. Hojnacki, 62, of Coal Township, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive in a single lane, a turn signal violation, careless driving and a seat belt violation in connection with a Nov. 16 traffic stop at the intersection of Routes 61 and 487 in Paxinos.

The charge was filed by Trooper Daniel Wilk of state police at Stonington.

n Scott K. Collins Jr., 30, of 310 N. Shamokin St., second-floor apartment, Shamokin, waived to court charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana relating to a Dec. 22 incident at his apartment building.

Patrolman Raymond Siko II filed the charges.

n Brian Carlton Herb, 41, of 25 S. Gold St., Shamokin, waived to court charges of hit and run, driving under suspension, following a vehicle too closely, careless driving and failure to provide information and render aid in connection with an Oct. 29 accident on Route 61 near Tulip Road in Shamokin Township.

The charges were filed by Trooper Daniel Wilk of state police at Stonington.

n Bryan S. Hornberger III, 20, of 1160 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, waived to court charges of possession of Spice, possession of drug paraphernalia and underage drinking filed by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II.

The charges relate to a Dec. 15 incident in front of Weis Markets.

n Joseph R. Cancellier, 21, of 192 Whiteys Road, Paxinos, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, one count of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and driving the wrong way on a one-way street in connection with a Dec. 20 incident in the 400 block of North Pearl Street.

The charges were filed by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II.
