MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court Oct. 29 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Adam D. Gondol, 39, of 128 Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, waived to court charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, receiving stolen property, two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, escape, flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest and failure to stop at a stop sign.
The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Patrolman Justin Stelma in connection with incidents on June 8 at Seventh and Poplar streets.
n Duane H. Maurer, 49, of 406 Catherine St., Ashland, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance relating to a March 31 incident on Route 901 at Locust Gap.
Mount Carmel Township Patrolman David Stamets Jr. filed the charges.
n Nicholas A. Beecher, 24, of 1007 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was held for court on a charge of flight to avoid apprehension when he failed to appear for his preliminary hearing.
Beecher was charged by Kulpmont Police Chief Richard Wilson III in connection with an Aug. 8 incident at his home.
n Nicholas J. Paynter, 18, address unknown, waived to court charges of theft, receiving stolen property, driving without a license and a high-beam violation.
Paynter was charged by Riverside Cpl. Kerry J. Parkes with stealing a car owned by Timothy Long, of 9 Gearheart St., Riverside, on Sept. 9.
n Wayne M. Kriebel Jr., 32, of Macungie, waived to court charges of two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving a motorcycle with a permit after dark, speeding, driving at an unsafe speed and a turning violation.
The charges filed by Trooper Mark Adams of state police at Stonington relate to a July 13 incident on Route 54 in Riverside.
