MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court on Monday, Oct., 21 at the Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Kyle J. Knopp, 21, of 331 W. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, waived charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest, driving under the influence, criminal mischief, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and underage drinking.
The charges stem from a July 28 incident at East Third and South Chestnut streets, Mount Carmel, and were filed by Mount Carmel Borough Police Patrolman Shane Reamer.
n Joyce F. Hickey, 50, of 429 Centre St., Freeland, was ordered to pay a $300 fine and court costs after pleading guilty to a summary charge of harassment.
Hickey was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Police Chief Todd Owens following an altercation at a South Beech Street residence on Sept. 7.
Two counts of simple assault were withdrawn in the case.
n A misdemeanor count of writing bad checks was waived to court by David P. Huber, 30, of 702 E. Fifth St., Mount Carmel.
Huber was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Police Patrolman Kevin Katch after allegedly writing a bad check for $267.33 to Eureka June 19, 2012.
n Derek C. Kranzel, 23, of 414 Main St., Aristes, waived charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person and driving with a suspended license.
The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Borough Police Patrolman Matthew Dillman following an Aug. 24 incident at Sixth and Market streets.
