MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court Nov. 4 in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct filed by Mount Carmel Patrolman Kevin Katch against Daniel K. Luke, 30, of 332 S. Hickory St., Mount Carmel, were dismissed when the alleged victim, Jayme Hough, refused to testify.
Luke was charged with assaulting Hough on Aug. 28 at 332 S. Hickory St.
n Charges of theft and receiving stolen property filed by Ralpho Township Patrolman Stephen Spade against Jude N. Parsons, 28, of Bloomsburg, were withdrawn after Parsons paid full restitution to the victim.
Parsons was charged with stealing $22,348.59 worth of jewelry from a home on Blue Church Road in Paxinos on July 17 and selling it to Bloomsburg Gold and Coin Shop.
n Peter L. Gorney, 28, of 317 E. Water St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to harassment and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totaling $455.50. An additional charge of simple assault was dismissed.
Gorney was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Jason Drumheller with assaulting his father-in-law Robert G. Blessington at their residence Sept. 26.
n James A. Madison, 40, of 135 Clermont St., Marion Heights, waived to court charges of altering or forging documents and plates and driving an unregistered vehicle in connection with a July 13 incident on North Sixth Street in Kulpmont.
The charges were filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Patrick McAndrew.
n Regina M. Merritt, 54, of 206 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, waived to court two counts of retail theft.
Merritt was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell with stealing merchandise from Boyer's Food Market on Aug. 24.
n Brian K. Maiese Jr., 19, of 110 S. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.
Maiese was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Justin Stelma in connection with an Aug. 20 incident at his home.
n Eric J. Ginck, 34, of 240 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, waived to court charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and loitering and prowling at night relating to an Aug. 14 burglary at 544 W. Second St.
Mount Carmel Lt. Christopher Buhay filed the charges.
n Richard P. Zanella, 59, of 17 Back St., Dooleyville, waived to court charges of failing to control a dangerous dog, failing to have a dog license, disorderly conduct and failing to confine a dog relating to an Aug. 10 incident at 19 Back St., Dooleyville.
Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell filed the charges.
n Todd D. Burns, 29, of 433 E. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, waived to court charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment involving an Aug. 7 incident at Second and Maple streets in Mount Carmel.
Burns was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Kevin Katch with assaulting a 17-year-old male.
n Joseph T. McGinley, 49, of 36 N. Locust St., Mount Carmel, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, a tire violation, failure to exhibit a driver's license on demand, failure to provide a change of address, careless driving, failure to wear a seat belt and driving without proper inspection.
The charges filed by Trooper David Myers of state police at Stonington relate to a June 25 incident near Trakks along Route 61.
n Ronald M. Morgenstern Jr., 43, of 332 E. Center St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to loitering and prowling at night and was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year. An additional charge of public drunkenness was withdrawn.
The charges filed by Mount Carmel Cpl. David Donkochik relate to an Aug. 10 incident at 529 W. Fifth St.
n Jeffrey M. Murphy, 31, of Slabtown Road, Catawissa, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year. An additional charge of institutional vandalism was withdrawn.
Murphy was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Jason Drumheller with causing a disturbance May 26 at Mount Carmel Police Station.
n Mark A. Knapick Jr., 22, of 30 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness and was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs and was placed on supervised probation for six months. Additional charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a small amount of marijuana were withdrawn.
The charges filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Michael Pitcavage relate to an Aug. 3 incident at Ninth and Scott streets.
n Tyler J. Petro, 20, of 51 E. Railroad St., Mount Carmel, was held for court when he failed to appear for his preliminary hearing on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, a stop sign violation and operating a vehicle with alcohol in his system.
The charges filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell relate to a May 19 incident along Route 61 near the Pine Burr Inn.
