MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court Dec. 30 in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n Christine Ruiz, 37, of Orange Street, Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to harassment and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totaling $455.50. An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.

Ruiz was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Matthew Dillman with assaulting Patty Crotty at 10 N. Orange St. Aug. 12.

n Jessica L. Wiest, 22, of 208 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, waived to court charges of endangering the welfare of children, two counts of criminal conspiracy, accidents involving death or personal injury, tampering with evidence, unsworn falsification to authorities, accidents involving damage to attended property, driving under suspension, driving without insurance, failure to give information and render aid, failure to give immediate notice of an accident to police, operating a vehicle following the suspension of registration and careless driving relating to an April 26 hit-and-run accident on Route 2038 near Beaverdale Fire Company.

Jeffrey M. Trice, 27, of 1533 W. Lynn St., Coal Township, a co-defendant in the case, waived to court charges of endangering the welfare of children, two counts of criminal conspiracy, tampering with evidence, accidents involving damage to attended property, driving under suspension, driving without insurance, failure to give information and render aid, failure to give immediate notice of an accident to police and operating a vehicle following the suspension of registration.

Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski filed all the charges.

n Linda M. Lupatsky, 31, of 237 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was held for court on charges of theft and receiving stolen property when she failed to appear for a preliminary hearing.

Lupatsky was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman William Adamski with stealing approximately $2,000 from Top Star Express convenience store at Third and Maple streets between May 1 and July 9 while she was employed at the business.

n Samantha Scicchitano, 34, of 1002 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, was held for court on charges of theft and receiving stolen property filed by Ralpho Township Cpl. Bryon Chowka after she failed to appear for a preliminary hearing.

Scicchitano was charged with stealing items from a rest room at First Columbia Bank in Elysburg on Aug. 12.

n Dennis W. Hornberger, 36, of 239 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel, waived to court a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia filed by Mount Carmel Patrolman William Adamski in connection with an Aug. 23 incident at Fifth and Market streets.

n Kimberly Ann Olearnick, 27, of 240 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, waived to court a charge of receiving stolen property involving the theft of tools owned by Andrew Huber. Police said the tools were stolen Aug. 14 from a house at 544 W. Second St. that was under renovation.

Mount Carmel Lt. Christopher Buhay filed the charges.

n Jason D. Pachutski, 29, of 137 Greco Lane, Mount Carmel Township, waived to court charges of driving under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs, resisting arrest, failure to drive in a single lane, careless driving and failure to sign his registration card in connection with a two-vehicle accident July 10 on Route 61 between Girard and Laurel streets in Atlas.

Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski filed the charges.

n Christian Lee Kehler, 36, of 1114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, waived to court charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs, careless driving, failure to drive in a single lane, possession of heroin and possession with intent to deliver heroin.

The charges filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman David Stamets relate to an Oct. 17 incident on Route 901 between the former Boylan's Service Station and Excelsior.
