n SHAMOKIN - Ronald Miller, 65, of 1143 Poplar St., Kulpmont, waived to court Tuesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Oct. 15 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
Miller was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Terry Ketchem in connection with a June 12 sobriety checkpoint on Route 61 at Bressi Motors.
At his arraignment, Miller can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n SHAMOKIN - Melissa J. Twist, 36, of 423 W. Market St., Trevorton, waived to court Tuesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Oct. 15 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
Twist was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Matthew Hashuga relating to a June 22 incident at Hospital Road and Center Street in Tharptown.
At her arraignment, Twist can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n SHAMOKIN - Jeffrey Tomashefski, 22, of 250 S. Hickory St., Mount Carmel, waived to court Tuesday a charge of retail theft and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Oct. 15 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
Tomashefski was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Edward Purcell with pumping $27.79 and $10 in gas in his vehicle at Mt. Royal Mart on Main Street in Ranshaw on Dec. 16, 2009, and Jan. 26, 2010, respectively, without paying for the fuel.
At his arraignment, Tomashefski can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n SHAMOKIN - David S. Christman, 48, of 1000 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, waived to court Tuesday charges of simple assault, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, harassment and disorderly conduct.
In addition to the drug offenses, Christman was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II with grabbing Anthony Witkowski by the neck and hitting him several times in the face and head, causing injury.
Police said the assault occurred July 25 at 251 S. Diamond St., Shamokin.
Christman was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Oct. 15 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n SHAMOKIN - Russell A. Carl, 57, of 39 S. Third St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.
An additional charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was withdrawn.
The charges were filed by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan and Shamokin Patrolman Bryan Primerano in connection with a July 15 incident at his home.
n SHAMOKIN - Nicole Lynn Aikey, 19, of Heritage Apartments, Market and Independence streets, Shamokin, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $300 fine plus costs and was placed on supervised probation for six months.
Charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy were withdrawn.
Aikey was charged in a July 22 drug bust by members of the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force.
Patrick Henz, 28, of 1652 W. Lynn St., Coal Township, who also was charged in the same drug raid, waived to court charges of delivery of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Henz was ordered by Gembic to appear for arraignment Oct. 15 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n SHAMOKIN - Walter E. Hyde, 67, of 514 Bear Valley Ave., Shamokin, was held for court Tuesday on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a lighting violation.
Hyde was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II in connection with a July 29 traffic stop at Market and Commerce streets.
Hyde was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Oct. 15 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
