n SHAMOKIN - Thomas Pavelko, 37, of 1016 E. Chestnut St., Coal Township, waived to court Tuesday charges of criminal mischief and criminal attempt to commit theft relating to a May 13 incident in a wooded area between Route 61 and the Cameron coal bank.

Pavelko was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Terry Ketchem with using a torch to cut metal pieces from a steel conveyor owned by Vincent Guarna. Police said the steel conveyor was valued between $15,000 and $20,000 prior to being cut.

Pavello was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Sept. 13 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n SHAMOKIN - Christopher Harvey, 29, of 229 Meadowview Circle, Paxinos, waived to court Tuesday charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Sept. 13 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

At his arraignment, Harvey can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

Harvey was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Nathan Rhodes with punching Keith Harden in the face, causing the victim to suffer a broken jaw. Police said the assault occurred July 4 inside Independence Fire Company.

n SHAMOKIN - Stephen Ray Kasmetskie, 42, an inmate at Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, waived to court Tuesday charges of theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Sept. 13 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

At his arraignment, Kasmetskie can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

Kasmetskie was charged by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington with trespassing at Stoneroad Iron and Metal in Shamokin Township and removing various scrap metal that he placed in a nearby wooded area before returning to Stoneroad Iron and Metal during business hours and selling the stolen items back to the business.

Police said the offenses occurred between June 1 and July 21.

n SHAMOKIN - Steven Dobrzyn, 36, of 615 Sixth St., Ranshaw, waived to court Tuesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, a red light violation and careless driving and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Sept. 13 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

At his arraignment, Dobrzyn can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

He was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Terry Ketchem in connection with a June 20 police pursuit that started in Ranshaw and culminated on Route 61 at Pool World.

Police reported Dobrzyn was observed driving at a high rate of speed and weaving back and forth between the travel and passing lanes.

n SHAMOKIN - Dale E. Moyer, 23, of 320 W. Spruce St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to a summary offense of disorderly conduct and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay $352 in fines and costs.

A charge of selling or furnishing alcohol to minors was withdrawn.

Moyer was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Darwin Tobias III with furnishing an 18-year-old female with beer in a wooded area in the 400 block of South Fifth Street on June 26.

n SHAMOKIN - Joan Klinger, 52, of 4538 Upper Road, Shamokin, waived to court Tuesday a charge of retail theft and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Sept. 13 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

At her arraignment, Klinger can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

She was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Nathan Rhodes with stealing gas from Turkey Hill Minit Market at Lincoln and Market streets on May 19 and June 24.

n SHAMOKIN - Stephen Jacobs, 39, of 1123 W. Arch St., Coal Township, waived to court Tuesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol relating to a June 12 sobriety checkpoint on Route 61.

The charges were filed by Coal Township Deputy Chief Christopher Williams.

Jacobs was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Sept. 13 at Northumberland County Courthouse in Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n SHAMOKIN - Joseph Snyder, 27, of 169 N. Grant St., Shamokin, waived to court Tuesday one count of simple assault and two counts of harassment relating to a July 4 disturbance at his home.

Snyder was charged by Shamokin Cpl. John Brown with assaulting Cathy Seedor, causing injury.

Snyder was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Sept. 13 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n SHAMOKIN - Gary Lee Thomas Jr., 31, of 1213 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, waived to court Tuesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a lighting violation and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Sept. 13 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

At his arraignment, Thomas can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty. Thomas was charged by Pennsylvania State Police Cpl. Michael A. Simpler in connection with a May 22 incident in the 900 block of West Arch Street in Coal Township.
