Deputy coroner confirms body not that of missing Gordon man
POTTSVILLE - The Schuylkill County coroner's office said Monday morning the decomposed body found Saturday in a wooded area in Ryan Township is not Kevin Lucas, a Gordon man missing since March 7.
Chief Deputy Coroner Jim Nettles said forensic pathologist Dr. Richard Bindie examined the body yesterday, but it will "probably take weeks" to gather more information, such as exactly how long the body had been there.
State police have still not identified the body. In a Saturday press release, authorities identified him only as a "male."
The discovery came one day after police found Lucas' Chevrolet Tahoe parked on a hill near the Schuylkill Mall, in the same general area where the decomposed body was found. Lucas, 33, of Park Street, was last seen inside Wachovia Bank on Lehigh Avenue, Frackville, at noon March 7.
Anyone with information is asked to call state police at Frackville at 874-5300.
