Actors from three area high schools will take the stage starting tonight to showcase their talents. Line Mountain, Shamokin Area and Southern Columbia Area music departments will present "Legally Blonde," "The Music Man" and "Into the Woods," respectively.

Richard Brown stars as Harold Hill, aka, the Music Man, in Shamokin Area's production of a classic musical, which includes popular tunes such as "Ya Got Trouble" and "Seventy-six Trombones." Shows will be presented at 7 p.m. today and Saturday in the high school auditorium.

Line Mountain students are putting the final touches on "Legally Blonde," which centers on Elle Woods (Courtlyn Trautman) who attends Harvard Law School to get her ex-boyfriend (Sam Ferster) back. She finds a different love, though, when she meets Emmett Richmond (Wade Houseman). The show starts at 7 p.m. today and Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Southern's production of "Into the Woods" is considered to have no leads because of the long list of primary characters involved with this dark musical, which intertwines the plots of several Grimms' fairy tales, including "Little Red Riding Hood," "Jack and the Beanstalk" and "Rapunzel." The characters encounter a childless baker and his wife who are seeking to end a curse placed on them by a witch. The music department and Encore will present the musical 7 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
