Crash into tree kills Shenandoah woman

ARISTES - A 43-year-old Shenandoah woman was killed Thursday morning in a violent one-car crash along Route 42, approximately three-quarters of a mile north of Ringtown Mountain Road in Conyngham Township, Columbia County.

Donnamarie R. Curreli, who was a passenger in a 2001 Chevrolet Lumina, died at the scene of the 9:27 a.m. accident after being ejected from the vehicle, which crashed into a tree, police said.

Christopher Lee Phillips, 27, of Gilberton, the driver of the car, suffered serious injuries and was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where he was still undergoing emergency room treatment Thursday night, according to a nursing supervisor.

State police at Bloomsburg reported a

collision reconstructionist was called to the scene. The investigation continues.

Assisting at the scene were Cpl.

Michael Reffeor, Troopers Gregory Fraley and Todd Tolan, and Cpl. Douglas Shook.

No other information was released by state police at Bloomsburg.
