One-vehicle crash

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - A Mount Carmel teen escaped injury following a one-vehicle crash at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Spruce and Shipe roads.

State police at Stonington reported a 2006 Honda Accord, driven by a 17-year-old male, was traveling south on Spruce Road when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign at Shipe Road.

The Accord crossed Shipe Road and struck an embankment south of the road, coming to rest.

The teen wasn't injured in the crash. Police say an investigation into the accident continues.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - A 14-year-old Shamokin male was cited for retail theft following an incident at Weis Markets at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Shamokin police Patrolman First Class Scott C. Weaver reported the teen was allegedly seen twice by a manager concealing energy drinks in his pants in an attempt to steal them.

Roving patrols

The North Central Highway Safety Network's Regional Driving Under the Influence Enforcement Group and the Coal Township Police Department have announced roving patrols, or sobriety checkpoints, will be conducted beginning Wednesday and ending on July 5 on routes 61, 225, 54, 487 and 901, or other connecting roadways.

Travelers are reminded to report drunk drivers by dialing 911.

Drug charge

MOUNT CARMEL - Frederrick J. Bloomingdale, 58, of 35 N. Locust St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman William Adamski with misbranding a controlled substance and public drunkenness relating to an incident at 1 a.m. March 31 in the first block of North Locust Street.

The charges were filed at the office of Senior Magisterial District Judge Michael F. Mychak in Mount Carmel.

Disturbance

MOUNT CARMEL - Sheila Frits, 34, of 728 Market St., Sunbury, was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Matthew Dillman with recklessly endangering another person relating to a disturbance on May 25 at 13 E. Water St. in the borough.

Police said Frits did not call 911 when Raymond C. Delaney, of 13 E. Water St., was overdosing on pills.

Charges were filed at the office of Senior Magisterial District Judge Michael F. Mychak in Mount Carmel.

Theft

MOUNT CARMEL - John J. Yadlosky, 19, of 441 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was charged by Ralpho Township Police Patrolman Bryon Chowka with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property relating to the alleged theft of a camera on April 11 from 283 Penn Ave., Elysburg.
