SNYDERTOWN - Jyl M. Pekera, 28, of Mount Carmel, suffered injuries Monday morning when a car she was driving along Snydertown Road struck a mailbox, embankment and guard rail.
State police at Stonington say Pekera was traveling east at 5:17 a.m. when her 1996 Plymouth Breeze exited the right side of the road and struck a mailbox with its right front end. The auto then traveled across the westbound lane and hit an embankment with its right front end before rotating counterclockwise back across the eastbound lane, where it struck a guard rail with its right rear end.
Police said Pekera suffered injuries of unknown severity and was transported by Elysburg Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
The car was towed from the scene.
Police reported Pekera will be cited for failing to drive in a single lane.
MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Edward Halcovich, 57, of 56 Reliance Road, Mount Carmel, was charged by Chief of Police Brian Hollenbush with theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct involving a disturbance Friday morning at 70 Reliance Road.
According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Halcovich allegedly stole two rifles and damaged a travel trailer. Police had to use substantial force to take Halcovich into custody after he became unruly.
WILLIAMSPORT - Sgt. Jeffrey L. McGinness, district office commander for the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, said his office received 73 complaints and issued 28 citations for underage drinking and possession of alcohol in April.
Officers performed age compliance checks at eight licensed establishments and cited one establishment for selling alcohol to an underage buyer.
Thirteen violation letters and 13 warning letters were issued for violations of liquor laws and four establishments were cited for furnishing alcohol to minors or selling alcohol without a license and/or seizures.
MOUNT CARMEL - Angela M. Stutzcavage, 20, of 122 Center St., P.O. Box 305, Aristes, was charged by Patrolman Jason Drumheller with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and careless driving relating to an April 6 incident in the first block of South Maple Street.
Police reported Stutzcavage had Alprazolam, marijuana, morphine and Oxycodone in her blood system.
Driving under suspension
ELYSBURG - Ralpho Township Cpl. Bryon Chowka charged Brandon J. Allison, 29, of 189 N. Market St., P.O. Box 321, Elysburg, with false identification to police, driving under suspension and operating a vehicle without proper inspection.
Police said Allison was initially stopped near the intersection of Route 54 and Circle View Drive for driving a vehicle with a faulty exhaust system on March 30. It was later determined that Allison has been convicted of driving under suspension five times since March 2007.
MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Adam G. Adams, 29, of 32 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Filarski with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness involving a March 30 incident at the Friendly Choice Food Mart along Route 61 in Atlas.
Police said a capped syringe and a plunger top to another syringe was found on Adams' possession.
