Drug possession

SHAMOKIN - Ryan Moroz, 23, of 1227 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance following an incident on East Independence Street, Shamokin, at 6:05 p.m. Sept. 22.

According to Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II, Moroz was stopped by police and was found to be in possession of two hypodermic needles, a small amount of marijuana, six Ativan pills, two Xanax tablets and a Clonazepan pill on his person and a glass pipe in his vehicle.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington charged Jesse J. Kosmer, 30, of 107 Church St., Danville, with driving under the influence, failing to give notice of change of name or address, driving in excess of the maximum speed limit, carelessly driving and recklessly driving following a traffic stop on Route 225 near the Mountain View facility in Coal Township at 1:02 a.m. Sept. 9.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Charges of simple assault and harassment were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, against Michael P. McGuire, 34, of 8 N. Second St., Shamokin, following an incident at his residence at 10:40 a.m. Sept. 27.

Shamokin City Police Patrolman Raymond Siko II reported in court documents that McGuire allegedly argued with the victim and then grabbed her by the throat and slammed her to the ground.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Richard S. Anderson, 46, of 145 S. Sixth St., Shamokin, was charged with driving under the influence, illegally operating a motor vehicle not equipped with ignition, driving with a suspended license (DUI related), and driving on the right side of the roadway following a traffic stop in the 500 block of North Franklin Street at 7:25 p.m. Sept. 18.

The charges were filed by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - Blaine Hoover, 22, of 1400 W. State St., Coal Township, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Shamokin Cpl. Bryan Primerano following a stop in the area of Terrace Avenue at 7:40 p.m. Sept. 22. Police said Hoover was found with two syringes and a spoon with residue on it.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Shamokin Cpl. John Brown charged Stesha N. Barcavage, 26, of 712 E. Cameron St., Shamokin, with retail theft after allegedly concealing items in a diaper bag on a stroller she was pushing inside the Dollar General Store, East Independence Street, at 3:57 p.m. Saturday.

Public drunkenness

MOUNT CARMEL - Daniel Renn Jr., 31, of 116 E. Melrose St., Marion Heights, was cited by Patrolman William Adamski for public drunkenness in connection with an incident at 5:44 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 400 block of East Avenue.

Renn was committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury on a probation detainer.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Officer David Donkochik has cited Christopher K. Phelan Jr., 30, of 336 S. Locust St., Mount Carmel, for harassment involving a dispute with his wife at 11:06 p.m. Sept. 17.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Matthew Dillman has cited Candace Diamond Vollmer, 33, of 228 E. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness relating to a disturbance at 9:23 p.m. Sept. 18 in the 300 block of South Beech Street.

Police said Vollmer began yelling and attempted to assault a neighbor before fleeing the scene. She was later located at her residence and taken into custody.

Juveniles cited

MOUNT CARMEL - Officer David Donkochik has cited three male juveniles for disorderly conduct relating to a disturbance at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 in the first block of North Pear Street.

Police said the juveniles, who are 12, 15 and 16, threw several paint balls at a parked vehicle.
