COAL TOWNSHIP - Police say an unknown person slashed four tires on a 2010 Toyota Corolla, owned by Colby Schweitzer, 27, of Coal Township, while it was parked in the 800 block of Mulberry Street between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 644-0333.
Corruption of minors
MOUNT CARMEL - Joshua R. Potter, 20, of 439 Vine St., Sunbury, faces two separate sets of charges, including corruption of minors, following theft incidents in the borough on Dec. 22.
Mount Carmel Borough Police Cpl. David Donkochik reported in court documents that police investigated footprints found around several parked vehicles, indicating someone tried to gain entry.
Police then received a call from Amber Ennis, who said someone stole money from her Jeep.
Officers followed the prints to a vacant house where they found Potter and a 16-year-old male with several piles of change, a fake pistol and drug paraphernalia. They also found a backpack allegedly belonging to Potter that contained two knives, several hand tools and a computer. Police found a bottle of pills prescribed to Jerry Matzura, whose vehicle is one around which police observed footprints, according to the complaint.
Police charged Potter with corruption of minors, prohibited offensive weapons, possessing instruments of a crime, theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, loitering and prowling at night and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
Potter also faces charges of theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, loitering and prowling at night and corruption of minors for allegedly entering a vehicle owned by Kimber Kauwell and removing approximately $15.
Potter was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $25,000 total bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
ATLAS - Anthony W. McGinley, 30, of 953 W. Third St., Williamsport, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of flight to avoid apprehension and loitering and prowling at night, stemming from an investigation into a Sept. 22 incident in Atlas.
Mount Carmel Township Police Kelly Campbell reported in court documents that McGinley was a passenger in a vehicle used to run from the police. Police said McGinley led officers on a foot pursuit throughout Atlas to avoid being picked up on an outstanding bench warrant.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and released on $5,000 signature bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
KULPMONT - Albert J. Goodlunas III, 38, of 553 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment after allegedly striking Ronald Sabol several times in the 900 block of Chestnut Street at 5:36 p.m. March 12.
He was charged by Kulpmont Police Patrolman Patrick McAndrew. The complaint was filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is set for April 17.
MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police charged Barry T. Adams, 30, of 111 N. Market St., Mount Carmel, with access device fraud, identity theft, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after a Jan. 1 incident at his residence.
Patrolman Matthew Dillman reported in court documents that Adams allegedly stole several pieces of information from David Urbanowicz to apply for a credit card in Urbanowicz's name and charged approximately $400 to the card.
The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
KULPMONT - Edward Miller, 28, of 863 W. Spruce St., Apt. 2, Coal Township, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and three counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance following the investigation into a drug buy in Kulpmont on May 13, 2011.
According to Shamokin Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano in court documents, Miller sold a tablet of Ecstasy and a suboxone tablet for $40 to a confidential informant.
Miller was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones on Tuesday and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $75,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday before Jones.
KULPMONT - Patrolman Shane Reamer charged Thomas J. Boylan, 18, of 827 Scott St., Kulpmont, with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after he allegedly removed an undetermined amount of coins from a change bottle owned by his mother at 8:35 p.m. Feb. 24.
The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is set for April 17.
MOUNT CARMEL - David Huber, 30, of 702 E. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, was charged with writing a bad check after allegedly issuing a check for $23,130.94 to Modern Hail Repair Inc. in October 2011 through a business he co-owns.
The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
