HUMMELS WHARF - A former employee of Walmart Supercenter along Routes 11/15 in Monroe Township, Snyder County, is accused of stealing $3,194.65 from a cash register.
Police say Kathy Ann Hoover, 40, of Sunbury, was recorded on security cameras stealing the money between Dec. 8 and Jan. 14. She is charged by Trooper Nathan Wenzel of state police at Selinsgrove with felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property.
HUMMELS WHARF - State police at Selinsgrove are investigating an incident at 11:05 a.m. Dec. 24, when two unnamed suspects are accused of taking pillow cases and bed sheets valued at $159.52 from a shelf inside Walmart Supercenter, Route 11/15, Monroe Township, Snyder County, and exchanging them at the courtesy desk for gift cards valued at $169.10.
SHAMOKIN - Cynthia Rogers, 43, of 327 State Route 2026, Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman William Zalinski for an abandoned vehicle violation relating to a Dec. 17 incident in the first block of North Second Street.
Police said Rogers' vehicle had an expired inspection.
Hit and run
COAL TOWNSHIP - Jennifer Reed, 41, of Coal Township, reported a vehicle struck her 2013 Toyota Corolla on the driver's side in a hit-and-run accident between 7 p.m. Jan. 10 and 7 a.m. Jan. 11 in a parking lot across from the emergency room department at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.
COAL TOWNSHIP - A maroon Montgomery Ward 10-speed bicycle was turned in to Coal Township Police Department after being abandoned at the rear of the 100 block of North Poplar Street between Arch and Water streets Jan. 16.
The owner of the bike can claim it by contacting police at 570-644-0333.
Vehicle strikes property
COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Matthew Hashuga said nobody was injured Tuesday night when a 1987 Toyota 4-Runner driven west on Independence Street near Cedar Street slid on the snow-covered road and struck the front of a property at 1304 W. Independence St.
Police identified the driver as Corey McAndrew, 17, of Mount Carmel.
The building hit by the 4-Runner at 6:50 p.m. sustained damage, as did the front end of the vehicle. The building is owned by Stephen Slodysko, of Coal Township.
Beer kegs stolen
COAL TOWNSHIP - Joshua Scandle, 34, of Shamokin, was charged by Coal Township police with theft for allegedly stealing empty beer kegs from Brewser's Sports Grille and turning them in to Champion Beverage in the Anthra Plaza for $60.
COAL TOWNSHIP - Ernie Salamone, 43, of Shamokin, reported someone stole his Apple iPad and an OtterBox case from his Toyota Tundra while it was parked in a lot at Walmart Supercenter along Route 61 at 8:30 p.m. Monday.
The iPad is valued at $400 and the case costs approximately $100.
Car hits pole
ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Brandon Dellaterza, 18, of Paxinos, escaped injury Tuesday morning when a 1998 Buick Century he was driving north along Route 890 slid on the snow-covered highway and struck a pole.
Police said Dellaterza was wearing a seat belt. His car sustained moderate damage in the 11:20 a.m. accident near Trout Pond Road.
MOUNT CARMEL - Two 13-year-old males and a 12-year-old male, all from Mount Carmel, were charged with institutional vandalism, criminal conspiracy and criminal mischief by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Brian Carnuccio following an incident at the Mount Carmel Area Elementary School at 5:10 p.m. Dec. 9.
Police said the three youths climbed onto the roof of the school and damaged a surveillance camera. The three youths were identified after the footage from the camera system was viewed. The damaged camera was valued at $785.
