Drug charges

ATLAS - A Mount Carmel man remained in jail Wednesday following his arrest last week during a controlled drug buy in a convenience store parking lot.

Robert M. Rickert II, 22, of 330 S. Apple St., is accused by officers of Northumberland-Montour County Drug Task force of selling one ounce of marijuana, five hits of LSD and $50 worth of magic mushrooms to a confidential informant.

Police said the controlled buy totaled $430 and occurred about 5 p.m. Friday outside Turkey Hill Minit Market at routes 54 and 61.

Rickert was stopped by officers near Kulpmont and was found in possession of the prerecorded currency, according to police. He was arrested.

Rickert is charged with felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, delivery of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility and misdemeanor counts of possessing a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Rickert remains in Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, on $75,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, Mount Carmel.
