COAL TOWNSHIP - A small purse containing makeup accessories and a small amount of cash was turned in to the Coal Township Police Department. The owner can contact 570-644-0333.
MOUNT CARMEL - Thomas H. Jones, 47, of Philadelphia, has been charged with forgery, obtaining a controlled substance by forgery or deception, two counts of criminal attempt to obtain a controlled substance, unlawful acts and false identification to police involving incidents that occurred shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday at Community Pharmacy.
Police reported Jones forged a prescription in an attempt to obtain 120 Oxycodone tablets.
The charges were filed by Patrolman Matthew Dillman.
Jones was arraigned Sunday by on-call Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $250,000 cash bail.
He waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday before Jones.
