Defrauding secured creditor
SHAMOKIN - Daniel McKinney, of 540 Fir Road, Shamokin, has been charged in a private criminal complaint with defrauding a secured creditor.
According to a complaint filed by George Hess of Hess Ready Mix, Schuylkill Haven, McKinney failed to appear for execution sales Sept. 29 and Oct. 13 or have levied-on items valued at $1,273.35 available for sale.
COAL TOWNSHIP - Police are warning area residents about a mail scam.
Authorities say residents have received post cards in the mail claiming they won a $100 gift certificate from either Target or Wal-Mart. The postcard directs the claimant to contact a toll-free number, where they are asked to provide a claim number and credit card or bank account information to receive the gift certificate.
Police warn residents to use extreme caution when asked to provide personal or financial information over the phone, through the mail or over the Internet.
