Trespassing
SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - James Frye, High Road, of Catawissa, was reported to be trespassing on the Shamokin Township property of Victor Lehman, of Chestnut Road, Shamokin, according to state police at Stonington.
Frye was retrieving his dog when Lehman discovered Frye at 10:45 p.m. Aug. 24, said police.
Dog bites girl, owner cited
SHAMOKIN - A Coal Township man was cited when his dog bit a young girl Monday afternoon on Independence Street, according to Shamokin Police Department.
Police reported that Mark A. Carnuccio, 37, of 1214 Chemung St., Coal Township, tied his dog to a parking meter in the 200 block of East Independence Street. The unattended dog bit and injured a 10-year-old girl.
The dog warden was contacted.
Vandalism
SHAMOKIN - A 12-year-old male from South Coal Street, Shamokin, was cited for damaging a toilet paper holder and throwing toilet paper around the bathroom of the Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library, 210 E. Independence St., at noon Aug. 20. He was ordered to pay $20 in restitution.
Arson investigation
SUNBURY - The Sunbury Police Department and the Sunbury Fire Department are investigating an attempted arson that occurred in the 400 block of Market Street Monday.
Police reported that several pieces of evidence were collected at 412-416 Market Street and several suspects were taken into custody and interviewed.
More information will be released as it becomes available, police said.
One-car accident
VALLEY TOWNSHIP - A Shamokin man was not injured Tuesday when he swerved off a Montour County roadway to avoid being hit by a tractor trailer and collided with a utility pole, according to state police at Milton.
Trooper Jeffrey J. Kowalski reported that Randall D. Taylor, 46, of Shamokin, was driving a 2005 Ford F150 westbound on Route 54 at it intersection with McCracken Road at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday when a tractor trailer in the passing lane began changing lanes.
Taylor swerved off the right side of the road to avoid being hit and struck a light pole in the parking lot of the Foodshop Shell station on McCracken Road, said police.
The truck was towed from the scene by Central Towing and Recovery.
Kowalski was wearing his seatbelt and not injured, said police.
The tractor trailer driver was identified as Mark L. Garverick, 37, of 1951 Inverness Road, Montoursville. A summary traffic citation will be filed against him.
