Attempted burglary
BUTLER TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating an attempted burglary that occurred between Aug. 6 and Aug. 9 at Birster Motors, 3082 Main St., Locustdale.
Police said someone tampered with an entry door lock and removed a window screen from the property.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Butler Township police at 875-4131.
Terroristic threats
BARRY TOWNSHIP - Matthew Klinger, 44, of Hegins, was charged by state police at Schuylkill Haven with terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person for allegedly attempting to run over Nikki Leininger, 26, of Tremont, with his pickup truck at 6:10 p.m. Aug. 5 at 265 Hill Road, Barry Township.
Police said an argument occurred between Klinger and Leininger in a driveway before Klinger allegedly attempted to run over Leininger in his pickup truck as she was standing next to her vehicle. Police said Leininger was able to step out of the way of the truck and punched Klinger in the face after he stopped his truck.
Klinger then exited his truck and threatened to kill Leininger and her children while displaying a revolver in his front waistband.
Leininger was able to flee the residence in her vehicle without further incident.
Klinger was arraigned on the charges Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Carol Pankake of Tremont and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Leininger was charged with harassment.
DUI
BRANDONVILLE - James Rumbel, 49, of Ringtown, will be charged by state police at Frackville with driving under the influence of alcohol and other traffic offenses relating to a one-car accident early Thursday morning along Route 924, just north of Route 339 in this Schuylkill County village.
Police reported Rumbel was driving a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am north at 12:15 a.m. when his car exited the road and came to rest in a ditch, sustaining minor damage.
Police said Rumbel failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was transported to Schuylkill Medical Center South in Pottsville, where he submitted to a chemical blood test.
Computer tampering
SHAMOKIN - Joseph M. Lahr, 65, and William Rutkowski, 56, who both reside at the Harold Thomas Highrise, 170 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, were cited by Patrolman William Miner for tampering with computer lines at the highrise on July 25, causing $540.47 in damage.
Public drunkenness
MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Shane Reamer has cited Joshua McGinley, 33, of Locust Gap, with public drunkenness relating to an incident that occurred at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fifth and Market streets.
Police were investigating a report of a hit-and-run accident in the 200 block of South Locust Street when they came across the suspected vehicle parked at Fifth and Market streets. Police said McGinley was found passed out and highly intoxicated while sitting in the passenger seat of the truck, which contained alcohol.
Police later learned that the driver of the vehicle and another passenger had parked the vehicle and fled the scene, leaving McGinley behind. Police said McGinley is the owner of the truck, which was impounded by police.
Charges are pending in connection with the hit-and-run accident.
Theft of services
MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman David Donkochik has cited Michelle McGinley, 25, of 451 W. Third St., Mount Carmel, for theft of services for allegedly throwing several bags of garbage into a Dumpster at the rear of 509 W. Third St., which is the residence of Mount Carmel Mayor J. Kevin Jones.
Police said the incident occurred at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 7.
Harassment
MOUNT CARMEL - Charles Bortell, 51, of 434 N. Locust St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Cpl. Christopher Buhay for harassment relating to a disturbance at 5:15 p.m. Aug. 5 in which he allegedly struck Ashley Rodichok at his residence. Rodichok is a personal care aide to Bortell's wife.
Disorderly conduct
MOUNT CARMEL - Timothy Smith Jr., 18, of 125 E. Arch St., Shamokin; Shane Brosious, 22, of 821 E. Cameron St., Shamokin; Jordan Myers, 20, of 115 N. Marshall St., Shamokin; Steven Randall, 19, of 44 S. Rock St., Shamokin; Thomas Weikel Jr., 20, of 122 S. Poplar St., Mount Carmel; Shawn Weaver, 27, of 122 S. Poplar St., Mount Carmel, and Jesse Miller, 21, of 221 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, were cited by Cpl. Christopher Buhay for disorderly conduct relating to an Aug. 1 disturbance in the 200 block of South Oak Street.
Police said the young men were fighting and yelling in the street shortly before 3 a.m.
Underage drinking
MOUNT CARMEL - Jeffrey Thomas Huben, 19, of 129 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Officer William Adamski for public drunkenness and underage drinking involving an incident that occurred at about 3:30 a.m. Aug. 8 at Fifth and Market streets.
Public drunkenness
MOUNT CARMEL - Daniel B. Johnson, 22, of 347 Third St., Wilburton, was charged by Officer William Adamski with public drunkenness relating to an incident that occurred at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of South Vine Street.
Driver identified
SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Jon V. Curry II, 22, of Danville, has been identified as the driver involved in a one-car accident Thursday afternoon along Snydertown Road.
State police at Stonington reported Curry suffered a minor injury in the 2:43 p.m. crash and was transported by Elysburg Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Police said Curry was driving a Honda Accord east when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road, causing his car to strike an embankment and utility pole. The auto then rolled onto its roof before landing on its wheels.
Curry was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
An investigation is continuing.
