SUNBURY - John Scott Lumpkin, 47, of 209 Apple Tree Court, Lewisburg, was charged with driving under the influence and summary traffice violations related to a traffic stop at 11:59 p.m. May 22.

Car lands on roof

WEST BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP - Bryan L. Noll II, 20, of Orwigsburg, suffered injuries Saturday morning when his car went airborne twice before sliding on its roof along Route 61, approximately 1,100 feet north of State Game Lands Road in this Schuylkill County township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported Noll was transported by Auburn Ambulance to Reading Hospital following the 8 a.m. crash.

Police said Noll was driving a 1998 Volkswagen Golf north in the right lane of Route 61 when his vehicle exited the right side of the highway and descended an embankment, where it struck a Verizon pole. The car became airborne for 54 feet before landing on an embankment, where it continued to travel for 21 feet before going airborne again and flipping over in mid air. The auto then traveled approximately 30 feet before landing on its roof in the northbound lane of Route 61 and sliding 54 feet before coming to rest.

Driver escapes injury

TREMONT TOWNSHIP - Nicholas M. Morgan, 21, of Tremont, escaped injury early Saturday morning in a one-car accident along Route 125 in this Schuylkill County township.

According to state police at Schuylkil Haven, Morgan was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox north at 1:15 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the road and lost control. His car traveled onto the northbound berm before going back onto the paved portion of the road. The vehicle then spun counterclockwise across both lanes of the highway for approximately 125 feet before traveling onto the southbound berm, where its passenger side front door struck guard rail. The car then traveled northwest for 75 feet before rolling over and striking several trees and shrubs. The auto came to a halt on its wheels partially in a creek.

1-vehicle crash SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - A Winfield woman escaped injury after losing control of her car on Route 61 just south of Holly Road Saturday, according to state police at Stonington. Dahnya N. Heim, 32, was heading north on Route 61 around 4:44 p.m.


 

HAC all-stars chosen

Shamokin Area's Brent Forbes and Tara Sabotchick, and Southern Columbia's Kurt Kessler have been named to Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference first teams in basketball in voting by conference coaches, and Shamokin girls coach Bill Callahan was nam
