Curfew violations
COAL TOWNSHIP - Five area youths were cited for curfew violations Thursday morning in the 1400 block of West Chestnut Street, according to Coal Township police.
Police reported a 15-year-old Shamokin male, a 13-year-old Coal Township male, a 16-year-old Coal Township male, a 17-year-old Coal Township male and a 17-year-old Danville male were walking on township streets at 1:57 a.m., a time when it is prohibited to do so by juveniles.
All the juveniles were taken into custody by Coal Township and Shamokin police without incident and were released to the custody of their parents.
Insurance fraud
SHAMOKIN - Christian Lee Kehler, 31, of 1114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was arraigned at 2:30 p.m. Thursday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on charges of insurance fraud and criminal attempt to commit theft by deception.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Special Agent Clinton Wagner of the state Attorney General's Office, Kehler is accused of filing an auto insurance claim with All State Insurance Co. for his 1999 Ford Ranger truck for a crash involving a deer, in which Kehler claimed the driver's side airbag deployed. But a subsequent investigation revealed the airbag had deployed in a previous crash with another owner of the vehicle and had not been replaced.
All State denied Kehler's claim, however, had it been paid, the total loss to the insurance company would have been $862.65, according to Wagner.
The offenses occurred between Nov. 17 and Dec. 26.
Kehler was released by Gembic on $5,000 bail, but he was later committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury on a probation violation.
Furnishes liquor
SHAMOKIN - Andrew Hart, 46, of 927 E. Webster St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Jarrod Scandle with selling or furnishing liquor to minors and corruption of minors relating to a June 7 incident at his residence.
Police reported Hart furnished vodka to a female minor who got sick after drinking the liquor.
DUI
SHAMOKIN - Miki Lynn Campbell, 28, of 804 N. Washington St., Apt. 2, Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman Jarrod Scandle with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, hit and run and careless driving relating to a May 30 accident in the 300 block of East Sunbury Street.
Police reported Campbell had a blood-alcohol content of .180 percent and also had cocaethylene, benzoylecgonine and methadone in his blood system at the time of the accident.
