Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred early Sunday morning in the 1300 block of West Montgomery Street.

Police reported a 2004 Dodge Stratus, owned by Lisa Mendoza, of 1305 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township, was reportedly struck by a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier owned by Michael Miller, of 1510 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township.

Both cars sustained moderate damage.

Miller told police he met a female at a bar and allowed her to drive his vehicle. When he later awoke in his car, Miller said he had an injury to his forehead and his car had been damaged. Miller said he then went inside his house and fell asleep.

Anyone with information about the accident is urged to call Coal Township police at 644-0333.

Bad check

SHAMOKIN - Annette D. Butler, 53, of Monroeton, has been cited by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes for issuing a bad check in the amount of $75 to Lightning-Rent-To-Own on East Sunbury Street on Sept. 25.

Shotgun found

ZION GROVE - State police at Frackville reported a hunter found a 12-gauge shotgun resting against a tree at 3:15 p.m. Monday along Route 4033, in the area of 590 Ringtown Road, on the property of the Shenandoah Fish and Game Club.

Anyone with information regarding the shotgun is urged to call Trooper Matthew Barrett at 874-5300 and provide the incident number L03-1096983.

Fire undetermined

SHAMOKIN - State Police Fire Marshal Norman Fedder reported Wednesday the cause of a fire that destroyed a garage, two loaders, a rollback, three Trans Ams, a Pontiac Grand Prix, a Chevrolet Cavalier, a 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang, 1968 Pontiac GTO and numerous tools at the property of Alfons Keefer of Bear Valley Avenue on Oct. 30 has been ruled undetermined due to the extensive damage that resulted from the blaze.

Fedder said the fire caused between $50,000 and $80,000 damage. He said Keefer has insurance to cover the property lost in the fire.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Jenny Dawn Davis, 26, of 838 Orange St., Berwick, was cited for disorderly conduct following an altercation with police at a South Market Street residence at 12:35 p.m. Monday.

Northumberland County Deputy Sheriff Michael Boris reported that Davis was attempting to gain entrance to a former residence and was asked to leave. Davis then became verbally offensive to the residents of the South Market Street home as well as to the police officers present. She was reportedly warned several times to stop her behavior prior to the arrest.

Assisting Boris at the scene were Shamokin Police Officers Nathan Rhoades and Mark Costa.

Two-vehicle crash

SUNBURY - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash off Second Street in Sunbury at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

State police at Stonington reported a 2009 Chevrolet Impala, owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, was legally parked and unattended in a designated parking stall when a 1992 Chevrolet Cheyenne, driven by John Sanders, 43, of Trevorton, was leaving a parked position from an adjacent stall. While backing out, Sanders' vehicle hit the rear of the Impala, causing damage to the middle area of the rear bumper.

Sanders was cited for careless driving, according to a police report.
