Lily Pond crash

CONYNGHAM TOWNSHIP - Police here are continuing their investigation into an accident Tuesday night involving a vehicle that reportedly flipped into a water-filled stripping pit known as the "Lily" in a remote area near Aristes.

The accident was reported shortly after 9:30 p.m.

Nobody was believed to be inside the vehicle when it traveled into the water-filled stripping pit.

Responding to the scene were firefighters from Aristes and Wilburton No. 1, Centralia Ambulance personnel and paramedics from Mount Carmel.

Emergency personnel, who had a difficult time locating the crash due to the wooded area where it occurred, remained at the scene for about two hours.

Divers were expected to begin searching for the vehicle at 1 p.m. today. Towing service personnel also will be on hand to remove the vehicle from the stripping pit area once it is located.

No other details regarding the accident were available Wednesday from Conyngham Township police.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Jason Drumheller cited Madeline Bradley, 18, of East Fifth Street, Mount Carmel, for harassment involving an incident that occurred at 3:35 a.m. Thursday.

Police reported Bradley is accused of sending multiple disturbing text messages to a female who was not identified by police.

Underage drinking

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police have cited Amanda Rothermel, 19, of Trevorton; Amanda Miller, 19, of Mount Carmel; Martha Doone, 20, of Coal Township, and Dana Moore, 19, of Riverside, for underage drinking relating to a drinking party at an apartment in the 200 block of South Oak Street on Saturday night.

The citations were filed by Sgt. Todd Owens and Patrolman Kevin Katch.

Officers were stopped by a resident in the 200 block of South Oak Street at 9:30 p.m. who had heard someone running on the roof of the apartment building. Police then spotted a male and female walking on various rooftops in the 200 block of South Oak Street. When confronted, the male and female began to run, but were taken into custody in nearby yards.

Both suspects told police they were drinking at an apartment in the 200 block of South Oak Street. Police then went to the apartment and confronted the owner, who also will be charged.

An investigation is continuing.
