Serious injury
HARTLEY TOWNSHIP - Angela L. Foster, 19, of Geneseo, suffered serious injuries in a one-car accident Sunday afternoon along Route 192 in this Union County township.
State police at Milton reported Foster was driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla east at 1 p.m. when, for an unknown reason, her car veered off the road and struck guide rail. The auto then spun around and crashed into a tree head-on.
Foster was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where she was listed Monday in serious condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
DUI, drug offense
SHAMOKIN - Jeffrey James Jeremiah, 51, of 1408 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township, was charged by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to an Oct. 25 traffic stop on Ninth Street near Independence Street.
Police said the incident occurred at 3:22 a.m.
DUI charge
SHAMOKIN - Tracy N. Hutira, 23, of Frackville, was charged by Trooper Mark Adams of state police at Stonington with driving under the influence of alcohol involving an Oct. 24 incident at Market and Lincoln streets.
Police said Hutira was stopped at 2:36 a.m. for a traffic violation.
Simple assault
UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Dane C. Bamford, 23, of 1574 Tioga St., Coal Township, has been charged by Trooper Wendy Keefer of state police at Stonington with simple assault and recklessly endangering another person for allegedly pointing a loaded handgun at motorist Todd C. Hollenbach, 46, of Sunbury, during a road rage incident shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday on the Veterans Memorial Bridge (Route 61).
As Hollenbach exited the bridge, he located Sunbury Patrolman Bradley Hare, who was conducting traffic enforcement. Hollenbach was able to identify the vehicle operated by Bamford, and Hare then stopped the driver until state police arrived at the scene.
Bamford was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge William Kear of Milton and released on bail.
Also assisting were Point Township and Northumberland police.
Driver identified
ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Donald Rothermel, 51, of Willow Street, Coal Township, has been identified as the driver of a 2002 BMW motorcycle who was injured in a fiery motorcycle-truck accident at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday on Route 2044, approximately one mile east of Route 225.
State police at Stonington reported Rothermel suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where he underwent emergency room treatment before being released.
Car hits tombstones
TREVORTON ROAD - A Coal Township woman was injured and her car extensively damaged in an accident Sunday morning along Route 225 at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Patrolman Jason Adams, who investigated the 11 a.m. accident, reported Nancy Simmons was injured in the crash and transported to Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where she underwent emergency room treatment before being released.
Police said Simmons was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Impala south toward Trevorton when her car exited the highway and struck guardrail before rolling over several times in Odd Fellows Cemetery, where it damaged some tombstones before coming to rest between the Hope and Faith Avenue section of the cemetery.
Simmons' car was towed from the scene.
An investigation is continuing.
Assault
COAL TOWNSHIP - A 15-year-old male from Coal Township has been charged by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky with simple assault and harassment relating to a disturbance at 7:45 a.m. Thursday in a stairwell area at Shamokin Area Middle/High School.
The teen is accused of assaulting a 14-year-old Coal Township male, who suffered minor injuries.
Harassment
COAL TOWNSHIP - Janelle Schickley, 33, and Philip Bilbay, 33, both of 1039 W. Water St., Coal Township, will be charged by Deputy Chief Chris Williams with harassment in connection with a disturbance at 2 a.m. Friday at their residence.
Police said Schickley is accused of hitting Bilbay with an ash tray, while Bilbay allegedly pushed Schickley.
