One-vehicle crash

EAST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - Katherine J. Shiko, 39, of Pottsville, escaped injury after she lost control of her car at 5:28 a.m. Saturday on Route 125, state police at Stonington reported.

Shiko was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion south when she hit the brakes and struck a dirt embankment on the west side of the road, police reported.

Two-vehicle crash

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Seven people escaped injury after a two-vehicle crash late Saturday night on Route 61 near the Stonington Fire Company, state police at Stonington said.

Susan M. Billman, 45, of Sunbury, was traveling with four juvenile passengers when she pulled out of the fire company's parking lot and into the path of a 1999 Volkswagen Passat driven by Stephanie M. Roshon, 23, of Kulpmont, police said.

Billman, who was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty, was cited with a violation for failure to yield to the right of way, police said. A passenger in Roshon's car, Dan Velazquez, 26, of Kulpmont, also escaped injury in the crash.

1-vehicle crash SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - A Winfield woman escaped injury after losing control of her car on Route 61 just south of Holly Road Saturday, according to state police at Stonington. Dahnya N. Heim, 32, was heading north on Route 61 around 4:44 p.m.


 

Mount Carmel Council and AREA Services enter into a service agreement

MOUNT CARMEL - Mount Carmel Borough Council entered into an executive service agreement with AREA Services to provide the borough with basic and advanced life support. The agreement, which will be effective as soon as the Northumberland County Department
