Arson investigations

SELINSGROVE - State Police Fire Marshal Norman Fedder is investigating two arsons that occurred in the borough Tuesday night.

Fedder said someone set fire to the passenger side front seat of a 1999 Dodge Durango owned by Roche Francis Babin, 47, of 121 Orange St., Selinsgrove, near the victim's home. He said combustible paper materials and an open flame were used to set the fire.

Police reported damage is estimated at $5,000.

Babin only has liability insurance coverage for the vehicle.

Fedder also reported someone deliberately set fire within a storage shed owned by Robin Richard Wesstrom, 49, of 6955 Chapins Road, Bloomsburg, at 4 Sand Hill Road in Selinsgrove at 10:26 p.m.

Police said the fire consumed items in the shed and spread to a 1998 Ford Explorer, 1998 Ford Taurus and a Plymouth Voyager mini van owned by Jessica Caraballo, 34, of 4 Sand Hill Road, Selinsgrove, that were parked near the structure. Fedder said the fire was set with an open flame.

Fedder said total damage is estimated at $30,000. He said Wesstrom and Caraballo are both insured for their losses.
