SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - An Elysburg motorcyclist was injured when his 2009 Kawasaki Ninja hit the rear of a Dodge truck that was waiting for another vehicle to turn off Route 61, state police at Stonington reported.

Tristan P. Sobol, 19, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, by Elysburg Ambulance following the 2:50 p.m. accident Thursday, police reported Sunday. He was wearing a helmet.

A Geisinger nursing supervisor said he was discharged the same day.

The driver of the truck, Noel J. Jones, 40, of Shamokin, wasn't injured.

Police said Sobol had just passed another vehicle when he hit the rear of Jones' truck.

He will be cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.
