Harassment
MOUNT CARMEL - A Mount Carmel woman was cited for one count of harassment by borough police as a result of an incident that occurred Feb. 24, according to Mount Carmel Borough Police Department.
Sgt. Todd Owens reported that police were called to 235 S. Pear St. at 8:45 p.m. Feb. 24 and found Cassandra Marie James, 22, with a last known address of 236 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, in a highly agitated state.
Upon further investigation, James was accused of allegedly punching a 16-year-old female, who is the daughter of her ex-boyfriend. The girl did not require medical attention, said police.
James was issued a summons and released to a family member.
Patrolman Matthew Dillman and Mount Carmel Township Patrolman David Stamets Jr. assisted.
Man cited
MOUNT CARMEL - A Mount Carmel man was cited for public drunkenness following an incident Tuesday, March 9, according to Mount Carmel Borough Police Department.
Patrolman Matthew Dillman reported that Michael Charles Matukaitis, 36, of 149 S. Oak St., Apt. B, was observed lying on the sidewalk at 2:50 a.m..
Matukaitis had dropped his keys on the ground and needed assistance with standing up and getting to his apartment, police said.
He also had an extremely strong odor of alcohol on his breath and body, police added.
Juvenile charged
MOUNT CARMEL - A juvenile allegation was filed against a 17-year-old Mount Carmel male for an incident at a residence in the 200 block of East Avenue March 5, according to the Mount Carmel Borough Police Department.
Patrolman Dave Donkochik reported the teen, who lives on East Third Street, had provided false information about his identity and also had drug paraphernalia in his possession.
The allegation was filed with the Northumberland County Juvenile Court.
Hit and run
LOWER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Someone who was possibly driving a black Volkswagon Jetta struck a "one lane bridge" road sign on Hallowing Run Road Friday morning and drove away, according to state police at Stonington.
Trooper Kirk A. Renn reported the driver was traveling west on Route 4020, about 230 feet west of Valley Road, when the vehicle traveled to the right onto the north shoulder for unknown reasons and struck the sign at 6:15 a.m..
Anyone with information is asked to call the state police at 286-5601.
Bad check
MOUNT CARMEL - A Mount Carmel man has been cited for writing a bad check to The Notary Shop, according to Mount Carmel Borough Police Department.
Patrolman Kevin Katch reported Randi Fowler, 28, wrote a bad check for $48.50. After the check was deposited, it was returned to the victim stamped for non-sufficient funds.
The charges were filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.
Bites ear
ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Walter Donald Hauck, of Sunbury, has been charged by state police at Stonington with aggravated assault for allegedly biting off a portion of James Dwane Herb's ear at 1 a.m. March 4 during a fight at the Countryside Inn along Whitey's Road.
Police said the victim is from Sunbury.
