Child bitten by pit bull

SHENANDOAH - A three-year-old borough boy was bitten by the family pit bull Thursday evening.

Borough police responded to a call at 22 S. Grant St. around 7:10 p.m. The mother, Sarah Fogarty, told police her son was bitten on the left cheek by the dog without warning and without provocation. When the emergency medical services personnel arrived, it was decided to fly the boy by LifeFlight to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, as a precaution. The boy suffered a deep wound on the cheek.

Seriously, how often do we hear "Child bit by german shepard", "Man bit by chihuahua", "Woman bit by terrier"??? Ya don't! (well I dont anyway) But by god, someone gets bit by a pit bull and it's on!! ANY pet can attack without warning! My moms dachshund came at me when I was younger for no reason, and I just think they're generally nasty dogs! But because one bite from them can't take off a limb it's really no big deal, nothing to get all worked up about and not a breed ignorants want to ban?? Get over it already!

don't blame the pit bull for it is a dog! all dogs bit my family has chauwauas(how ever ya spell it?) that will bite you quicker than the pit.you should never leave a chid alone with any kind of dog.i have raised 3 pit bulls now for about 8 years they love children all ages. they also love to have other dogs visit thier home (our home) with no problem.dont keep the bad rap on the pit, its called being responsable as a dog owner,NEVER LEAVE A CHILD ALONE WITH ANY DOG!

When are people going to learn not to have these animals as pets when you have small children at home. Any "pet" can turn on its owner at any time, remember, they are "animals". I will say a prayer for the little boy and his family. I think there needs to be a law in effect to ban this breed of dogs from families with small children.
