ELYSBURG - A Lock Haven man was treated and released following a lightning strike at Knoebels Campground on June 26.
Locust Township Police reported Douglas Fetzer, of Lock Haven, was about to climb into a camper in the Manitoba lot around 6:35 p.m. when, during an electrical storm at the park, a lightning bolt stuck nearby just as he touched the camper's metal grab bar.
Police say Fetzer was directly struck, but the contact with the metal left him with a burn on the wrist.
According park manager Buddy Knoebel, Fetzer was conscious and talking, but "was experiencing some post-event symptoms." Park EMTs cared for him until an ambulance came to transport him to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was treated and released.
Police could not determine the exact location where the lightning struck.
