- MOUNT CARMEL - Anthony J. Cress, 56, of 338 S. Poplar St., Mount Carmel, waived to court Wednesday charges of delivering 20 Dilaudid tablets, possession with intent to deliver Dilaudid, possession of Dilaudid, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal use of a communication facility relating to an incident at 2:52 p.m. Sunday at Seventh and Vine streets.

The charges, which were waived to court before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, were filed by Mount Carmel Police Chief Todd Owens and Patrolman Matthew Dillman.

Cress was ordered to appear for plea court March 25 in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

- MOUNT CARMEL - Tara T. Yancheski, 39, of 1113 Scott St., Kulpmont, was held for court Wednesday during a preliminary hearing before Jones on two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, two counts of criminal conspiracy, and charges of criminal use of a communication facility, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman David Stamets and Mount Carmel Patrolman Matthew Dillman in connection with a Jan. 18 incident at the intersection of Routes 61 and 54 at Strong.

Nicholas V. Baccala, 28, of Fort Howard, Md., who was charged in the same incident with two counts of criminal conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Yancheski and Baccala were ordered to appear for plea court March 25 in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time they can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

- M0UNT CARMEL - James Author Madison, 39, of 134 W. Clermont St., Marion Heights, waived to court Wednesday two counts of driving under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs, endangering the welfare of children, possession of a controlled substance, adulterating or misbranding a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a Sept. 12 vehicle stop on Route 61 in Mount Carmel Township.

The charges were filed by township Patrolman David Stamets.

Madison was ordered by Jones to appear for plea court March 25 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
