n MOUNT CARMEL - Aaron B. Cousentino, 22, of 1435 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, waived to court Wednesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol during a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, Mount Carmel. He was ordered to appear for arraignment on Nov. 25 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

The charges were filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Cade E. Holden relating to a traffic stop on Aug. 1 at Turkey Hill, 862 Chestnut St. Police said Cousentino blood alcohol concentration was .259 percent.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph S. Zaharick, 25, of 439 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, waived to court Wednesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on roadways laned for traffic during a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, Mount Carmel. He was ordered to appear for arraignment on Nov. 25 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly M. Campbell relating to a traffic stop in Atlas on July 4. Police said Zaharick's blood alcohol concentration was .203 percent.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph E. McGinley Jr., 24, of 1201 Poplar St., Kulpmont, failed to appear for his preliminary hearing on Wednesday in front of Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones. Charges of possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and trespass by motor vehicle were bound to court and McGinley was ordered to appear for arraignment on Nov. 25 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly M. Campbell relating to a vehicle search in Locust Gap on Sept. 18.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Julian M. Ross, 24, of 150 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel, waived to court Wednesday charges of criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief during a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones and was ordered to appear for arraignment on Nov. 25 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

The charges were filed by Trooper Raymond O'Donnell of the state police at Stonington, relating to alleged vandalism of cameras on a radio tower owned by Northumberland County Emergency Services, located at Boyer's Knob, adjacent to Route 125 in East Cameron Township, on Aug. 2. Approximately $2,100 in damage was reported.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Mark D. Edwards, 52, of 4091 Sheryhill Road, Hellerstown, waived to court Wednesday two counts of driving under the influence and overtaking on the left during a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones. Edwards was ordered to appear for arraignment on Nov. 25 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

The charges were filed by Ralpho Township Patrolman Christopher Grow relating to a traffic stop on May 22 near All Saints Cemetery, along Route 54.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Michael T. Reinard, 34, of 142 Culp Road, Sunbury, waived to court Wednesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving outside of the correct lanes, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving, during a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones. He was ordered to appear for arraignment on Nov. 25 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

The charges were filed by Trooper Raymond O'Donnell of the state police at Stonington, relating to a vehicle crash that occurred on May 25 along Route 125 in East Cameron Township.

Shikellamy grad receives double lung transplant

Nineteen year-old Ashley Spotts, suffering from cystic fibrosis and diabetes, got a Valentine's Day gift of life: a bilateral lung transplant. The 12-hour operation took place Sunday at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Presbyterian Hospital.
