n SHAMOKIN - Jonathan Lake, 20, of Shamokin, and Mariann Zarkowski, 47, of 325 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, who were among 31 defendants charged in a drug bust Oct. 5 in the Shamokin area, waived their rights to preliminary hearings Tuesday and were ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Dec. 1 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
Lake is charged by Shamokin Patrolman Bryan Primerano with four counts of criminal use of a communication facility, four counts of delivery of heroin, four counts of possession with intent to deliver heroin, two counts of delivery of Percocet, two counts of possession with intent to deliver Percocet, one count of delivery of oxycodone, one count of possession with intent to deliver oxycodone, one count of delivery of Kadian and one count of possession with intent to deliver Kadian.
Zarkowski is charged by Primerano with delivery of Dilaudid, possession with intent to deliver Dilaudid and criminal conspiracy.
n SHAMOKIN - Mason Samuel Leonti, 19, and Alexi Martinez-Gonzalez, 22, both of Reading, who were charged by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan and Officer Joshua Wynn with delivery of heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin, criminal use of a communication facility and criminal conspiracy to deliver heroin, waived their rights to preliminary hearings Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III.
The two men were charged in a joint investigation by Coal Township police and agents from the state Attorney General's Office with distributing heroin in the west end of the township.
Leonti and Martinez-Gonzalez were ordered by Gembic to appear for arraignment Dec. 1 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
n SHAMOKIN - Daniel W. Sweeney Jr., 20, of 836 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty Tuesday to harassment and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs.
An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.
Sweeney was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Jarrod Scandle with grabbing Samantha Purcell, who was 5 weeks pregnant at the time, and attempting to pick her up and place her into a vehicle against her will on Oct. 7 in the first block of West Arch Street.
n SHAMOKIN - Paul Kinsey, 33, of Coal Township, waived to court Tuesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Dec. 1 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
Kinsey was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II in connection with a June 26 incident on Grant Street near Church Street.
Kinsey also pleaded guilty to harassment and was ordered by Gembic to pay a $300 fine plus costs.
He was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Nathan Rhodes with leaving 11 harassing telephone messages with Wanda Ebright at 104 N. Grant St. on June 27.
n SHAMOKIN - Charges of bad checks and theft by deception filed by Shamokin Patrolman Darwin Tobias III against Kari S. Bird, 32, of 434 W. Arch St., Shamokin, were withdrawn Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III.
Bird was charged with issuing a bad check in the amount of $200 to B&B Heating Oil Inc. on July 3.
n SHAMOKIN - A charge of theft by unlawful taking filed by Shamokin Patrolman Darwin Tobias III against Paul J. Delbo, 36, of 43 N. Marshall St., Shamokin, was withdrawn Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III.
Delbo was charged with taking a mounted air conditioner on Aug. 11 from an apartment he rented from Thomas Gulba.
n SHAMOKIN - William Bradley, 31, of Shamokin, pleaded guilty Tuesday to disorderly conduct and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.
An additional count of disorderly conduct and charges of terroristic threats, two counts of simple assault, probable cause for domestic violence and criminal trespass were withdrawn.
Bradley was charged by Shamokin Patrolman William Miner with assaulting his former girlfriend, Jill Bartholomew and shoving her mother, Karen Bartholomew, at 260 S. Pearl St. on Oct. 11.
n SHAMOKIN - Dennis C. Paczkowski, 20, of 40 High View Drive, Coal Township, waived to court Tuesday two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance (heroin, marijuana and alprazolam), possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver drug paraphernalia.
The charges were filed by Shamokin Cpl. Edward Griffiths in connection with an Aug. 17 incident at Market and Mulberry streets.
Paczkowski was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Dec. 1 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
n SHAMOKIN - Robert Felix, 36, of 1631 Webster St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty Tuesday to criminal mischief and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $100 fine plus costs and make $200 restitution.
Additional charges of simple assault and harassment were withdrawn.
Felix was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Nathan Rhodes in connection with punching Lisa Kirst in the head and smashing a window at Friendship Fire Company on Sept. 19.
n SHAMOKIN - Kenneth J. Wallin, 27, of 137 E. Arch St., Shamokin, waived to court Tuesday charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia relating to an Aug. 20 incident at Water and Orange streets in Shamokin.
Trooper Tyson Havens of state police at Montoursville filed the charges.
Wallin was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Dec. 1 at Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury.
n SHAMOKIN - Elizabeth Farbiarz, 22, of 1050 1/2 W. Arch St., Coal Township, waived to court Tuesday charges of theft by deception and receiving stolen property and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Dec. 1 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
Farbiarz was charged by Coal Township Patrolman David Sage with issuing a bad check in the amount of $411.60 to Anthracite Provisions on May 14.
n SHAMOKIN - Aaron W. Radel, 21, of 1622 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, waived to court Tuesday a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia involving a Sept. 28 incident in the 700 block of East Race Street.
Radel, who was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Darwin Tobias III, was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Dec. 1 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
n SHAMOKIN - Melissa Jo Ritzman, 26, of 17 Center St., Tharptown, pleaded guilty Tuesday to disorderly conduct and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs.
A charge of retail theft was withdrawn.
Ritzman was charged by Coal Township Deputy Chief Chris Williams with stealing items valued at $28.66 from Wal-Mart Supercenter along Route 61 on Sept. 14.
n SHAMOKIN - David W. Swartz, 55, of 372 Badmans Hill, Paxinos, waived to court Tuesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive in a single lane, a turning violation, depositing waste or other material on a highway and careless driving involving an Aug. 15 incident on Route 61 near the Cameron Bridge in Coal Township.
The charges were filed by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington.
Swartz was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for arraignment Dec. 1 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
n SHAMOKIN - Leonard Schlagle, 21, of 316 N. Franklin St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty Tuesday to harassment and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs.
A charge of harassment by communications was withdrawn.
Schlagle was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Edward Purcell with leaving 16 lewd and obscene messages at a home in the 1100 block of East Race Street on Aug. 6.
