n MOUNT CARMEL - Clayton D. Carl, 43, and Doyle W. Pease, 41, both of Excelsior, pleaded guilty Wednesday to receiving stolen property and were ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a $250 fine plus costs, make restitution and serve 12 months probation.

Marie D. Carl, 38, also of Excelsior, pleaded guilty to theft and was ordered to pay a $250 fine plus costs, make restitution and serve 12 months probation. An additional charge of receiving stolen property was withdrawn.

The Carls and Pease were charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman William Adamski in connection with a Sept. 5 incident at 400 S. Oak St.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Anna P. McCaffery, 28, of 421 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, waived to court Wednesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of careless driving relating to a Nov. 15 accident on Mountain Road near Blue Church Road in Ralpho Township.

The charges were filed by Patrolman Chris Grow.

McCaffery was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to appear for arraignment Feb. 26 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Felicia Ann Renna, 19, of 417 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel, waived to court Wednesday charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license involving a Nov. 22 incident in the 100 block of North Maple Street.

Renna, who was charged by Patrolman Jason Drumheller, was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to appear for arraignment Feb. 26 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

n MOUNT CARMEL - David A. Pavloski, 47, of 10 Front St., Wilburton, waived to court a charge of resisting arrest during a recent hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, who ordered the defendant to appear for arraignment next month at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

Pavloski was charged by Patrolman David Donkochik in connection with a Nov. 13 disturbance at 48-50 W. Avenue.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph J. Daya, 28, of 217 E. Water St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty Wednesday to disorderly conduct and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a $250 fine plus costs and placed on six months probation.

Additional charges of altered, forged or counterfeit documents and plates, driving without insurance and driving without proper registration and certificate of title were withdrawn.

Daya was charged by Patrolman David Donkochik in connection with an Oct. 14 incident in the 100 block of East Railroad Street.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Michael J. Sedor, 23, of 625 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, waived to court charges of possession with intent to deliver heroin, delivery of heroin, criminal conspiracy, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia during a recent hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Sedor was ordered by Jones to appear for arraignment next month at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

Sedor was charged by Sgt. Todd Owens and Agent Barry Howe of the state Attorney General's Office in connection with a Jan. 12 incident.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Jenifer K. Witkowski, 21, of 640 Chestnut St., Apt. 6, Kulpmont, waived to court charges of criminal use of a communication facility, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia during a recent hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Witkowski was charged by Sgt. Todd Owens and Agent Barry Howe of the state Attorney General's Office in connection with a Jan. 12 incident.

The defendant was ordered by Jones to appear for arraignment next month at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Christine Amanda Rate, 24, of 930 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, and her fiance, Joseph Edward McGinley Jr., 24, of 1201 Poplar St., Kulpmont, waived to court two counts each of endangering the welfare of children during a recent hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Rate and McGinley were ordered by Jones to appear for arraignment next month at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

The couple were charged by Patrolman Justin Stelma in connection with a Dec. 12 incident at 410 E. Avenue.

Rate and McGinley were charged after a babysitter called Mount Carmel Borough Police after noticing suspicious bruising on Rate's two sons, ages 2 and 3.

Police said Katherine Smith, a co-worker of Rates, was watching the children on Dec. 12 while Rate and McGinley went to a company Christmas party. Smith observed bruises on the 3-year-old's face that appeared to be hand-shaped. The 3-year-old's left ankle was also swollen and bruised. She also saw two large bruises on the 2-year-old's behind when she was changing his diaper.

A doctor at Geisinger Medical Center examined the two boys on Dec. 13. He reported to police that the injuries were suspicious in nature, and were consistent with "non-accidental trauma."

The children were taken into custody by Northumberland County Children and Youth. This wasn't the first time the children had been taken from Rate, who told police she'd lost the children for two-and-a-half weeks and had just picked them up from foster care on Dec. 9.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Raymond C. Long, 61, of 142 E. Lincoln St., Apt. R-3, Shamokin, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a lighting violation relating to a Nov. 22 incident on Route 61 in Strong during a recent hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Long was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell.

Long was ordered by Jones to appear for arraignment next month at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.

n MOUNT CARMEL - Luis Torres, 32, of 221 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel, waived to court two counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault, and one count each of recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct relating to a Jan. 8 stabbing incident at the intersection of Avenue and Market streets during a recent hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Torres was charged by Sgt. Todd Owens with stabbing Anthony Corley over a dispute regarding a bicycle Corley had given to Torres' son.

Torres was ordered by Jones to appear for arraignment next month at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury.
