n Irvin F. Snyder, 54, and Melanie J. Guinther, 30, both of 5 Madison Ave., Elysburg, waived charges of criminal conspiracy to commit tampering with or fabricate physical evidence, tampering with or fabricate physical evidence, defiant trespass, loitering and prowling at nighttime, possession of a controlled substance, misbranding of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, during their preliminary hearing Aug. 10 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones of Mount Camrel.

The two were charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolmen David Stamets Jr. and Matthew R. Filarski after they allegedly broke into a secure impound yard in Natalie after their vehicle was involved in an accident.

The two were ordered by Jones to appear for court arraignment Sept. 12 at the Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, where they can either plead guilty or no contest, or not guilty and seek a trial.

n Kyle C. Kent, 31, of 431 N. Walnut St., Marion Heights, saw two counts of simple assault and disorderly conduct and charges of resisting arrest and harassment bound to court by Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones during a preliminary hearing Aug. 10. He was ordered to appear for court arraignment on Monday, Sept. 12 at the Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, where he can either plead guilty or no contest, or not guilty and seek a trial.

He was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Brian Carnuccio after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and another person during an altercation at 9:48 p.m. July 4 at a home on East Melrose Street, Marion Heights. Several officers were needed to restrain Kent and a taser was deployed in the incident.

n Charges of unlawful restraint, simple assault and recklessly endgangering another person were withdrawn against Gregory A. Berezovske, 35, of 401 E. Sixth St., Mount Carmel, when the victim refused to testify at a preliminary hearing Aug. 10 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones of Mount Carmel.

Berezovske was charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman following an incident at his residence on July 21.

He did plead guilty to a charge of harassment and was ordered by Jones to pay fines and court costs totaling $353.50.

n Robert L. Smith, 54 of 312 S. Maple St., Mount Carmel, waived charges of driving under the influence, failure to stop at stop signs and careless driving during his preliminary hearing Aug. 10 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones.

Smith was charged by Patrolman Shane Reamer of the Mount Carmel Borough Police Department following a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Maple Street on May 12.

He was ordered to appear for court arraignment Sept. 12 at the Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury where he can either plead guilty or no contest, or not guilty and seek a trial.

n Charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana were waived to court by Steven R. Smith, 22, of 227 S. Third St., Hamburg, during his preliminary hearing Aug. 10 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Smith was charged by Patrolman Matthew Filarski of the Mount Carmel Township Police following a July 4 traffic stop on Route 54 in Natalie, in which Smith was a passenger in a vehicle.

He was ordered to appear for court arraignment on Monday, Sept. 12 at the Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, where he can either plead guilty or no contest, or not guilty and seek a trial.
