3 escape injury

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Three people escaped injury in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday along Route 453 in this Northumberland County township.

State police at Stonington reported Justin M. Mitchell, 26, of Kulpmont, was driving a 1995 Nissan Altima shortly after 5 p.m. when he reached for something, causing his car to cross the center line and strike a 2006 Nissan XTerra driven by Kimberly A. Reed, 42, of Shamokin, disabling Reed's vehicle.

Mitchell, his passenger, Jay Seger, 74, of Ranshaw, and Reed escaped injury.

Mitchell was cited for a traffic violation.

Burglary

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are investigating a burglary that occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the residence of Steven and Susan Knoebel, of Mile Post Road.

Police reported someone entered the home and stole a Remington .30-06 rifle, a Smith and Wesson .357 revolver, a .22-caliber revolver, a laptop and printer, a digital camera, a television and a gold necklace.

Anyone with information about the burglary is urged to call 286-5601.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Paul J. Ventilli, 29, of 409 W. Olive St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to exhibit his registration card, speeding and careless driving relating to a Feb. 20 incident along Route 61 near Burger King.

Police said Ventilli refused to submit to a blood test.
