3-vehicle accident

COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a three-vehicle crash on Route 225 near the Cameron Bridge at 2:12 p.m. Monday.

Coal Township police reported Irvin Snyder, 64, of Shamokin, was operating a 2001 International school bus when he failed to notice traffic stopped in front of him for a red light. Snyder then struck the rear of a 2002 Chevrolet SUV being operated by Kathleen Gilger, 24, of Coal Township. The impact caused Gilger's vehicle to slide forward and strike a vehicle in front of her, a 2003 Hyundai SUV, operated by Susan Davis, 56, of Mount Carmel.

There were no injuries in the accident. However, Gilger's vehicle sustained a shattered rear window. Police said the bus was empty at the time of the accident.

Burglary

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington continue to investigate a burglary at a home on Mile Post Road in Upper Augusta Township Tuesday morning.

Police said that sometime between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m., someone arrived at the home of Ralph E. Geise and Karen S. Guise and pried open a rear patio door and gained entry to the residence. The burglars further ransacked the residence, removing a six-inch hunting knife, a Winchester 1300 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition, various gold chains and earrings and a $5 bill, then fled undetected.

Anyone with information about the burglary is urged to contact state police at Stonington at 286-5601.

Students captured

ARISTES - Two students at Northwestern Academy who walked away from a work detail in Aristes Monday night were apprehended about an hour later and returned to the academy.

Coal Township police reported a 15-year-old male and 16-year-old male from Lycoming and Susquehanna counties walked away from the detail at 8:20 p.m., but were captured in Centralia about 9:15 p.m.

Participating in the search for the students were Northwestern Academy staff members, Coal Township police, Ralpho Township police and emergency personnel from Columbia County.

Drug charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Eric J. Weikel, 30, of 1321 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with possession of Ativan, possession of marijuana and possession of a small amount of marijuana relating to a Dec. 5 incident at 839 W. Water St.

False reports

COAL TOWNSHIP - Charges of unsworn falsification to authorities and false reports to law enforcement authorities have been filed by Patrolman Joshua Wynn against Janell Schickley, 33, of 1039 W. Water St., Coal Township.

Police reported Schickley falsely accused a man of raping her on Jan. 13 in a wooded area off Bear Valley Road.

Police said she made the false accusation Jan. 17 at Coal Township Police Station.

Assault charges

SHAMOKIN - Wayne A. Wagner Jr., 21, of 13 S. Eighth St., Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment in connection with a disturbance at Race and Vine streets at 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Wagner is accused of punching Nicholas C. Bressi, 23, of 36 N. Second St., Shamokin, in the face, causing his nose to break and his mouth to bleed. Bressi underwent emergency room treatment at Shamokin Area Community Hospital before being released.
