One-vehicle crash

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - A Shamokin woman escaped injury during a one-car crash at 6:25 a.m. Saturday on Route 61.

State police at Stonington reported a 2003 Subaru Forester, driven by Susan L. Vlock, 36, of Shamokin, was traveling in the northbound lane of Route 61 and negotiating a right-hand curve when Vlock lost control of the vehicle. The Forester continued traveling north and crossed over the median into the soundbound lanes and struck the wall located on the southbound shoulder of Route 61. The vehicle then continued north for approximately 70 feet before coming to a stop.

Vlock was not injured in the crash, but police said that she will be cited for driving her vehicle at an unsafe speed. Snow-covered roadways were also reported to have contributed to the crash. Assisting police at the scene were the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
